A personalised caricature makes a novel substitute for a guestbook at a wedding and a live caricaturist provides fantastic entertainment at the reception afterwards. Also the Scottish Cartoon Art Studio team are happy to draw couples!
Several years ago John and Kevin were both caricatured by Tommy at an event and they bore us in mind for more artwork ahead of their wedding. It’s unusual to get more than one opportunity to draw a particular client and, to spare Tommy’s blushes, we won’t post his first likenesses of the lads here… Suffice it to say there was a big difference between this new caricature and the ones sketched a decade ago!
John provided plenty of photos as well as details of the kilts, flowers etc that he and Kevin would wear on the day and the colour scheme for the whole event. This allowed Tommy to make the caricature as “wedding accurate” as possible even though it was drawn a week before the big day itself.
The artwork was displayed at the venue with the helpful addition of a wee sign to direct guests that they were very welcome to write their greetings on the surrounding mount. Soon it was filled up with messages and had also served an additional purpose in breaking the ice a little, becoming a talking point in the room.
Tommy was on hand to provide entertainment at the reception afterwards and, as usual, his drawings were warmly received. It’s worth noting here that all the caricaturists in the Studio team are more than happy to draw couples. Some caricaturists completely refuse to put more than one person on a page and that’s their choice. Obviously there’s an upper limit to how many people can be properly caricatured on one piece of paper, however we won’t split up partners, siblings or BFFs when it’s so clear that they’ll enjoy the experience more if they are drawn together.
