As the Olympic Torch Relay reaches Scotland this week, so our Creative Communities project in Kilmacolm reaches its climax.
We have been working with writer in residence Kirstin Zhang and children at Kilmacolm and St. Columba’s Primary School to capture their stories inspired by this summer’s events. The people of Kilmacolm will line the streets of the village as the Torch passes through on Friday and we’ll return for a final visit and cartoon workshop at the local library on Saturday.
A major portion of the project has been the creation of a book collecting the children’s fantastic and whimsical stories of the Torch’s travels across the globe. Tales of the Olympic Flame features illustrations by the young authors themselves and our own Derek Gray.
Creative Communities is just one of the children’s art activities we’re doing as the Olympics get underway. Keep an eye on the blog for more!
