The Auld Acquaintance – the exhibition of international cartoons on the topic of the Scottish independence referendum organised by the Studio that toured five venues around Europe last year – returns with selected works to be given a retrospective showing at the Festival of Politics, part of the Edinburgh International Festival, at the Scottish Parliament, Edinburgh, 14th-16th August 2015.
The Festival takes “seeing the world differently” as its theme this year and so the humorous perspectives on Scottish nationhood and identity from cartoonists around the globe make an ideal addition to a fascinating programme of events.
In addition, Studio Co-ordinator Terry Anderson will conduct two cartoon workshops for young people and contribute to a panel discussion on freedom of expression on Saturday the 15th.
The workshops are free, tickets for the panel are £6 (£4 concession). All must be booked though the festival website.
It promises to be a great weekend for anyone interested in politics so keep an eye on the Festival website over the coming weeks for more information.

POSTSCRIPT – The Festival of Politics was a great success and we were delighted to be part of it. Of course not every cartoon submitted could be shown in all past iterations of The Auld Acquaintance and the Scottish Parliament Exhibitions team had room for only a limited number of pieces on this occasion. Once again, we would like to thank all the wonderful cartoonists who sent work throughout 2014.
